Prices and validity in USD, list price, checked 2026 on gigsky.com; GigSky was running a temporary sale when we checked. GigSky sells no fixed 1, 3 or 15-day packs: those lengths are its Unlimited plan, priced by the day. GigSky's Italy page states the Unlimited cap: 3.5GB a day at full speed, then slower data (speed not published), never cut off, with full speed back 24 hours from plan activation. GigSky prices vary with the region setting in its app, so the figure you see may differ by a few percent. A 20% promo code circulates most of the year; if you find one, every number above drops.
Is GigSky really free in Italy?
100MB, and it costs nothing to use
Every eSIM guide including this one tells you which plan to buy. GigSky is the only brand that lets you check whether the advice was right before you pay for it.
The offer, as GigSky's Italy page states it, is a free 100MB plan for new customers, no card details, claimed through the GigSky app. Install it before you fly along with nothing else. When you land, turn it on. Within thirty seconds you know three things this site cannot tell you: whether your handset provisions the profile cleanly, what the signal is like at your actual accommodation rather than in a coverage map, and how fast it is on the network GigSky happened to put you on.
If it is good, buy the size you need from the same app and the profile is already installed. If it is bad, you have lost nothing and you can buy Yesim instead, which at least names its Italian networks, TIM included.
A hundred megabytes is enough to prove the eSIM connects, send a WhatsApp to say you landed and load a map from the airport. It is not a plan for the trip.
Install the free trial before you fly and decide about the rest once you have seen a real signal in a real Italian street.

GigSky wins four of the five rows on price. It is not our top pick anyway, and the reason is the next section. Checked 2026.
GigSky will not tell you which Italian network you get
and that is the whole objection
For a Rome, Florence, Venice or Milan trip this genuinely does not matter. All four Italian operators cover the cities well, WindTre has the best 5G in the country and Vodafone the best speed and reliability, and you will not be able to tell which one you landed on.
It starts to matter the moment your itinerary has a hill in it. Above the treeline in the Dolomites, on the Cinque Terre cliff paths, in the Sardinian interior and on Tuscan gravel roads, TIM is usually the network still showing bars, and TIM's win in Opensignal's Consistent Quality ranking, 79.2% in the December 2025 Italy report, is the measured version of that reputation.
So the honest recommendation is split. City trip: buy GigSky, take the free trial, save the money. Trip with mountains in it: pay about $1.40 more at 10GB for Yesim, which names TIM among its four networks, or buy a local TIM SIM and choose the network yourself.
Ninety and a hundred and eighty days is a real feature
nobody else sells it
Almost every travel eSIM expires in thirty days. GigSky's two big bundles do not, and for some trips that changes the arithmetic completely.
| Trip | The 30-day answer | The GigSky answer |
|---|---|---|
| Three weeks now, one week in December | Buy twice: two 10GB plans, about $36 | One 20GB / 90 days, $23.99 |
| A month in Italy, a month elsewhere, a month back | Buy three times | One 50GB / 180 days, $33.89 |
| Remote work, on and off, across a season | Rolling monthly plans at $18-20 each | 50GB at 68 cents a gigabyte, used when you need it |
| One two-week holiday and nothing else | Fine. 10GB for $17.79 | Same thing. The long validity is wasted |
The catch is that GigSky's Italy bundles are Italy bundles. If the second trip is to France, the 90-day validity buys you nothing. For genuinely multi-country travel, Saily's 39-country Europe plan is the better shape, and it includes Switzerland, which almost nothing else does.
How to buy and install a GigSky Italy plan
the app is the awkward part
- Check the handset. Dial *#06#. An EID means the phone takes an eSIM. A carrier-locked phone does not.
- Take the free 100MB first. It costs nothing and needs no card. Install it on home wifi with the paid plan not yet bought.
- Expect the app. GigSky's purchase flow runs through its own app rather than a clean web checkout, which is the one part of the experience people complain about. Set the region correctly before you buy, because it determines the currency and therefore the price.
- Land, test the free profile, then buy the size you need from inside the same app. The profile is already installed, so the paid plan activates without a second QR code. Full setup guide.
Buy it if, skip it if
the short version
| Buy GigSky if | Skip GigSky if |
|---|---|
| You want to test the signal before paying, which nobody else here allows | Your route runs into the Dolomites, the Cinque Terre trails or the Sardinian interior, where the unnamed network is a real risk |
| You want 20GB or 50GB, where it is the cheapest per gigabyte on the site by a wide margin | You want a clean web checkout, because GigSky routes you through its app |
| Your trip is split across a season and 90 or 180 days of validity saves you buying twice | You want unlimited for a week or more, where Saily is cheaper and allows 5GB a day |
| You are doing cities only, where every Italian network is good and the cheapest plan wins | You are only going for four days, where Airalo’s short-dated plans fit better |
Questions
on GigSky in Italy
Is GigSky good for Italy?
Yes, and it is the cheapest brand here at 10GB, 20GB and 50GB. It also gives new customers a free 100MB plan with no card, which no other brand we link does. The one real objection is that it publishes nothing about which Italian network it uses.
Is GigSky really free in Italy?
The 100MB plan for new customers is free and needs no card details. It is enough to check the eSIM connects and load a map from the airport. Everything beyond that is paid, starting at $2.99 for 1GB.
Which network does GigSky use in Italy?
GigSky does not publish it, and we are not going to guess. If knowing matters to you, Yesim names TIM, Vodafone, WindTre and Iliad on its own Italy page and costs about $1.40 more at 10GB.
What is the cheapest GigSky Italy plan?
Free, at 100MB for new customers. The cheapest paid plan is 1GB for $2.99 over seven days. The best value is 50GB for $33.89 over 180 days, which works out at 68 cents a gigabyte, the lowest price per gigabyte anywhere on this site.
Does GigSky have unlimited data for Italy?
Yes. GigSky Unlimited is priced by the number of days: $3.49 for one, $24.49 for seven, $44.99 for fifteen, $65.99 for thirty. That is 3.5GB a day at full speed, then slower data at a speed GigSky does not publish; full speed resumes 24 hours from plan activation, not at midnight. For a week or more, Saily's unlimited is cheaper, at $22.99 for 7 days.
GigSky or Airalo for Italy?
Airalo for short trips, because it sells 3-day and 7-day plans and GigSky's short options are weaker. GigSky for anything two weeks or longer, where it is cheaper at every size and its 90 and 180-day validity has no equivalent.
GigSky Italy · 100MB free, then 10GB for $17.79
The only brand in this comparison that lets you test the signal before paying, the cheapest 30-day 10GB here, and 50GB for $33.89 with six months to use it.
